Talisman Energy Pushes to 3% Advance as Speculation Grows Over Papua New Guinea Plans

Talisman Energy Inc. (TLM.TO) is at its best levels of the day, with shares rising nearly 3% this morning, possibly gaining some strength from speculation the oil and gas could partner with Oil Search Ltd to expand its exploration footprint in Papua New Guinea.

Bloomberg News, following an interview with Oil Search Managing Director Peter Botten, reported that Talisman was among a handful of firms that may be interested in acquiring more assets in Papua New Guinea -- although Botten declined to specificly identify Talisman or any other firms other than Royal Dutch Shell as a possible partner with the Australia-based company.
