Stocks Struggling to Keep Early Gains

Stocks still were slightly higher this afternoon, drifting from their best levels of today's trading that was earlier fueled by expectations for China and Japan to accelerate stimulus measures for their respective economies. Asian stocks rallied after Japan's Nikkei index overnight put in its strongest performance in more than seven years. The bullish mood extended into European trade and eventually reached the U.S. markets, with Dow Jones Industrial Average jumping to a triple-digit gain moments after the opening bell.
