Stock futures were higher ahead of Thursday's open, buoyed by better-than-expected third quarter earnings from Twitter ( TWTR ), Tesla ( TSLA ), Dow Chemical ( DOW ) and Bristol-Myers Squibb ( BMY ), higher oil futures, and the expectation that this morning's round of economic data will show healthy economic growth.
Coming up is the weekly jobless claims data, expected to decline 5,000 to 255,000, and durable goods orders for September, projected to increase 0.2% and by 0.1% excluding transportation orders.
Later this morning, the pending home sales index is expected to increase 1.0%, while the Kansas City manufacturing index should drop to 3.0 from 6.0 in September.
