Stock ETFs Start First Trump Week On A Mixed Note

Major stock market index ETFs were mixed in late trading Monday, as the first full week of the Trump administration got underway. Emerging markets and gold were leading world stocks higher.

SPDR S&P 500 ( SPY ) was down 0.3% on the stock market today in early trading. SPY's price chart is etching a flat base, 1% below its recent all-time high.

Vanguard Emerging Markets ( VWO ) was up 1.4%. IShares MSCI Philippines ( EPHE ), iShares MSCI South Africa ( EZA ), iSharesMSCI New Zealand ( ENZL ) and iShares MSCI Mexico Capped (EWW) were all up 1.3% or more.

PowerShares Gold Shares (GLD) was up 0.6% at 115.94. The gold ETF has rallied 8% since its Dec. 15 low and sits 11% below its July 6 high of 131.15.

Real estate was the only other S&P 500 sector showing a gain Monday, with Real Estate Select Sector SPDR (XLRE) up 0.6%.

Energy was down the most, with Select Sector Energy SPDR (XLE) off 1.0%.
