Sprint Names New CFO, Third Exec To Exit In Recent Months

Softbank-controlled Sprint ( S ) on Thursday named Michel Combes as president and chief financial officer.

Combes will report to Chief Executive Marcelo Claure. Combes most recently was the CEO of French telecom Altice Group, and is the former CEO of network gear maker Alcatel-Lucent, which was sold to Nokia in 2015.

[ibd-display-video id=3061232 width=50 float=left autostart=true] Sprint's current CFO, Tarek Robbiati ,will leave the company on Jan. 31. Robbiati joined Sprint in August 2015.

Prior to joining Sprint, he had been CEO of FlexiGroup, an Australian consumer finance company specializing in leasing. Sprint had embraced the concept of phone leasing last year.

Robbiati is the third Sprint executive to leave in recent months. Jim Hyde, the company's president of affiliates and wholesale, and Gunther Ottendorfer, chief operating officer of its technology division, said they were leaving in November.

Shares in Sprint slipped 0.3% to 5.88 in early trading on the stock market today . Sprint stock has weakened since it shelved merger talks with T-Mobile US ( TMUS ).
