S&P 500, Nasdaq Fall Victim to Tech Sell Off While Dow Reaches Record

A selloff in technology heavyweights pushed U.S. stocks away from record intraday highs on Friday, with the Nasdaq Composite poised for the lowest close in more than two weeks.

The S&P 500 reversed earlier gains made after investors overlooked an unexpected UK election result and the testimony a day earlier by former FBI director James Comey. Only the blue chip Dow Jones Industrial Average was stronger in late trading, rising to an all-time peak as advances in financials and health-care stocks managed to counter the tech retreat.
