Smart Sand Inc. ( SND ), a producer of raw frac sand, said Monday that it plans to increase the wet and dry processing capacity of its Oakdale plant to up to approximately 4.4 million tons of raw frac sand per year, and expand its rail and logistics infrastructure in Wisconsin.
The company is also evaluating other proposed capital projects including an investment in transload facilities located in the shale operating basins.
Additionally, the company is currently in talks with certain existing and prospective customers in the pressure pumping and exploration and production industries to enter into long-term deals.
Shares were 5.5% lower in recent morning trade.
