Royal Dutch Shell ( RDS.A ) has begun production at its Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility in Broome, Western Australia, Reuters reported.

Wells have now been opened at the Prelude site, located 475 kilometres north-north east of Broome, indicating that the facility has entered the start-up and ramp-up phase.

The Anglo-Dutch major expects Prelude to have an annual LNG production capacity of 3.6 million tons, 1.3 million tons a year of condensate, and 400,000 tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas. The company did not elaborate on when first LNG will be exported from the facility, Reuters said.
