Technology shares were mixed in pre-market trade Monday.
In technology stocks news, Canadian telco BlackBerry Limited (BBRY, BB.TO) is up near 1% in U.S. pre-market trade Monday after it named Marty Beard as Chief Operating Officer.
Beard will be responsible for cross-functional organizations, including Marketing, BlackBerry 10 Application Development, Customer Care and Quality. He will also be responsible for instituting best practices and processes. Most recently, Beard was Chairman and CEO of LiveOps, Inc., a leading provider of cloud applications for customer service.
And, computer and electronics company Apple Inc. ( AAPL ) has been upgraded to outperform from market perform at JMP Securities.
Price target information was not available. In Monday's pre-market session, shares of AAPL are up 0.58% to $94.98, amid a 52-week trading range of $59.82 - $97.10.
Finally, Electronics for Imaging ( EFII ), a provider of digital printing innovation, said Monday that it has has acquired DirectSmile GmbH, a provider of software solutions for cross media marketing automation.
While financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, the company said the acquisition is not expected to be material to its Q3 or full year 2014 results.
