SECTOR UPDATE: Solar-Tech Stocks

SunPower Corporation ( SPWR ) is up more than 40% and nearer a 52 week high $9.54 after analysts at Lazard upgraded the stock to Buy from Neutral with an $11 price target, one day after the company sold its Antelope Valley solar projects in southern California to Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) for more than $2 billion.

Other solar-tech stocks also are higher today, including DayStar Technologies ( DSTI ), up 9.5%; Hanwha SolarOne Co. Ltd ( HSOL ), gaining 18%; JA Solar Holdings Co. ( JASO ), advancing 16.4%; LDK Solar Co. Ltd ( LDK ), climbing 23; ReneSola Ltd. (SOL) ascending 15%; Suntech Power Holdings Co. (STP), adding 13.8%; Trina Solar Ltd (TSL), rising 20.3%; and Yingli Green Energy Holding Co (YGE), ahead 15%.
