Healthcare stocks were mostly higher today with the NYSE Healthcare Sector Index adding almost 0.7% and shares of healthcare companies in the S&P 500 climbing about 0.8% as a group.

In company news, Apricus Biosciences ( APRI ) was narrowly higher in late Monday trading and the company saying it has begun the commercial launch of its topical treatment for erectile dysfunction in Germany.

Sales of the company's Vitaros medication in Germany are being handled by a Novartis ( NVS ) unit. Overall, the company is expecting to earn tiered double-digit royalties and more than $200 million in potential milestone payments once Vitaros is available globally

APRI shares recently were up 0.5% at $1.97 each, just 4 cent off their session high.

(+) TKMR, Leerink Swan begins coverage of the drug-maker working on a possible vaccine to treat the ebola virus with an Outperform rating amd a $25 price target.

(-) SRNE, Researchers publish data supportive of MYC inhibitor technology licensed by the company from the The Scripps Research Institute, but also say "MYC is a very important but yet unsuccessfully pursued target for cancer therapy."
