Financial shares were generally lower in pre-market trade Tuesday ahead of auto sales data and orders for goods to U.S. factories.
In financial stocks news, PHH Corp's ( PHH ) auto fleet leasing unit, PHH Arval, could soon be acquired by Canadian financial services firm Element Financial Corp (EFN.TO) for approximately $1.35 billion in cash, Reuters reported, citing a source close to the matter.
The source added that the boards of the two companies should meet over the weekend to approve the deal and that the deal could be announced as early as Monday.
And, Main Street Capital Corporation ( MAIN ) said it recently led a new portfolio investment totaling $19.2 million of invested capital in Datacom, L.L.C., with Main Street funding $17.2 million of the new investment.
