Financial shares were mixed in pre-market trade Monday.
In financial stocks news, Summit Hotel Properties ( INN ) a real-estate investment trust that invests in hotels, Monday reported it swung to a Q3 profit as revenue climbed more than expected, boosted by jumps in pro forma revenue per available room and pro forma occupancy, and the company raised its guidance for 2014 revenue per available room.
And, CNA Financial ( CNA ) reported a decline in operating income for Q3 ended September 30 that resulted from the weakness in its property and casualty operations.
The insurance company nearly halved last year's net operating profit of $271 million, or $1 per diluted share, to $182 million, or $0.68 per diluted share, in Q3, missing the Street view of $0.78 compiled by Capital IQ, if comparable.
CNA trades in a 52-week range of $35.68 to $43.65 with shares steady at $39.08.
