Sector Update: Financial

Financial stocks were mostly lower, with the NYSE Financial Sector Index falling 1.5% and the S&P Financial 100 Index retreating about 1.6%.

In company news, Genworth Financial ( GNW ) declined Thursday after its Australian subsidiary earlier this morning priced its initial public offering of stock.

Genworth Mortgage Insurance Australia priced the offering of 220 million shares at a A$2.65 each ($2.48) apiece, generating around A$583 million ($543 million).

GNW shares were down 3.5% at $17.59 each in recent New York trade, or 12 cents above its session low. The stock has a 52-week range of $10.10 to $18.74 a share, climbing almost 61% over that span.

In other sector news,

(+) SRC, (+1.9%) Prices offering of 23 mln shares of its common stock at $10.69 each, matching Wednesday's closing price. Also places $350 mln of 2.875% convertible senior notes due 2019 and $300 mln of its 3.75% convertible senior notes due 2021.

(-) SCHW, (-5.0%) Barclays lowers EPS estimates, sets a $22 a share price target and maintains its Underweight rating for the stock after the online broker age's assets under management during April came in lower than expected.
