Financial stocks are broadly higher today with the NYSE Financial Sector Index rising 1.1% and the S&P Financial 100 Index advancing 1.0%.
In company news, Apartment Investment and Management Co. ( AIV ) is up about 0.6% in late trade at $28.72, giving back most of its earlier gains that followed the company today declaring a dividend for its Class Z 7.0% cumulative preferred stock of $0.4375 per share for the period July 15 through Oct. 14.
The dividends will be payable Oct. 15 to shareholders of record on Oct. 1.
In other sector news,
(+) COF, Said delinquencies rose during in August from July for both its U.S. and international credit-card businesses with the 30-day delinquency rate for U.S. credit cards rising to 3.24% in August from 3.18% in July.
