Sector Update: Energy Shares Mixed Pre-Market as Crude Oil Futures Drop

Energy shares were mixed in pre-market trade Thursday as crude oil futures slipped.

Light, sweet crude oil for September delivery was down 0.23% at $102.88 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was up up 0.27% at $2.88 per gallon while natural gas was up 0.51% at $3.78 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was flat at $38.16. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was up 0.91% at $20.96.

In other energy news, Broadwind Energy ( BWEN ) said it has been awarded $34 million in new tower orders from a U.S. wind turbine maker.

And Cabot Oil and Gas ( COG ) reported earnings of $0.28 per share and revenue of $533.19 million, which beat the Street view of $0.25 per share on $522 million in revenue, according to Capital IQ estimates.

COG was steady at $33.36 with a 52-week range of $31.79 to $41.78.
