Sector Update: Energy Shares Mixed; Crude Futures Drop Toward $97 Per Barrel

Energy shares are mixed in pre-market, while crude oil futures decline.

Light crude oil for December delivery is trading down $0.93 at $97.27 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil is up $0.01 at $2.98 a gallon while natural gas is flat at $3.63 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is flat at $35.41. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down -0.22% at $18.01.

In other energy news, EXCO Resources Inc. ( XCO ) is down 2.9% at $6.40 in pre-market trade after it reported adjusted Q3 net income of $0.04 per share, down from a $0.13 profit in the year-ago quarter but trailing analyst expectations by $0.06 per share.

Revenue rose 16.7% year over year to $165.3 million, also trailing the Capital IQ consensus expecting $188.92 million in quarterly revenue.
