Energy shares are higher ahead of the opening bell while the January crude contract is advancing to trade over $101 a barrel. The January contract is up $1.09 to $101.29 in pre-market trading. BP ( BP ) ADRs are higher while the company's Chairman, Carl-Henric Svanberg, will be taking a non-executive position at Volvo AB. BP shares are up 1.82% to $43.53. Also, Rio Tinto ( RIO ) shares are higher while the company said credit in China has tightened. RIO shares are up 1.8%.
