Sector Update: Energy Shares Higher as Crude Trades up Toward $102 Per Barrel

Energy shares are higher in pre-market, while crude oil futures are also gaining.

Light crude oil for November delivery is trading up $0.70 at $101.37 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil is up $0.03 at $3.02 a gallon while natural gas is down $0.05 at $3.70 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 0.74% at $36.66. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 0.88% at $19.16.

In other energy news, Schlumberger ( SLB ) reported Q3 earnings of $1.29 per share, ex one-time items, versus the Capital IQ consensus of $1.24. Revenues were $11.61 billion, versus the analyst estimate of $11.58 billion.

In the same period last year, the company reported EPS of $1.04 on revenues of $10.5 billion. Shares closed at $91.43 with a 52-week range of $66.85 - $92.39.
