Energy shares are higher in mid-day trading as crude adds to prior-session gains to trade above $86 a share.
Light, sweet crude for September delivery is trading up 0.72% to $86.34 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil is up 0.54% to $2.91 a gallon while natural gas was down 0.22% to $4.09 per million British thermal units.
In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 1.2% to $33.70. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 0.53% at $10.35.
In mid-day news, shares of ConocoPhillips ( COP ) are higher after Bloomberg reported the company said an oil leak in an oil rig platform owned by the oil major and China National Offshore Oil in Bonhai Bay off the coast of China.
ConocoPhillips shares are up 0.7%, or $0.49, to $66.01.
Meanwhile, Cabot Oil & Gas ( COG ) is reportedly initiated with a "buy" at Brean Murray with a price target of $98.
Shares are up 0.83% to $71.79.
