Sector Update: Energy Shares Flat Pre-Market as Crude Oil Futures Dip

Energy shares were generally flat in pre-market trade Thursday as crude oil futures were lower.

Light, sweet crude oil for October delivery was down 0.21% at $94.22 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was down 0.63% to $2.73 per gallon while natural gas was down 0.70% at $3.98 British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was up 0.03% at $35.02. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was flat at $21.87.

In other energy news, Southwestern Energy Company ( SWN ) has been downgraded by analysts at RBC Capital Markets to a sector perform rating from outperform. The price target on the stock has been set at $45 a share.

In Thursday's pre-market session, shares of SWN were unchanged from their Wednesday closing price of $37.51, and have a 52-week trading range of $34.88 - $49.16.
