Sector Update: Energy Shares Flat As Crude Head Toward $108 Per Barrel

Energy shares are flat in pre-market, while crude oil futures are up toward $107 per barrel.

Light, sweet crude oil for September delivery is up $0.48 at $107.04 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil is flat at $3.06 a gallon while natural gas is up $0.03 at $3.34 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs , the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is flat at $37.83. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is up 0.17% at $17.68.

In other energy news, Chevron ( CVX ) will pay $2 million in fines and restitution after it pleaded no contest to six misdemeanour charges on Monday stemming from the August 6 explosion and fire at its San Francisco Bay refinery, according to Reuters.
