Sector Update: Energy Shares Flat Ahead of Opening Bell as Crude Oil Futures Rise

Energy shares were generally flat in pre-market trade Tuesday as crude oil futures were generally higher.

Light, sweet crude oil for October delivery was up 1.26% at $93.83 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was up 0.05% at $2.81 per gallon while natural gas was up 0.39% at $3.89 British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was up 0.72% at $34.95. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was flat at $21.14.

In other energy news, Triangle Petroleum ( TPLM ) said late Monday Q2 net EPS were $0.15 fully diluted, up from $0.12 in the year-ago period.

Adjusted EPS were $0.20 fully diluted, up from $0.19 a year ago. Sales rose to $141.989 million from $50.394 million last year.

Shares closed up 4.31% at $12.10 in Monday's after-hours session but are flat so far in Tuesday's pre-market trade.
