Sector Update: Energy

Energy shares were generally higher in pre-market trade Tuesday as crude oil futures were down.

Light, sweet crude oil for September delivery was down 0.53% at $98.85 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was down 0.88% at $2.82 per gallon while natural gas was down 2.99% at $3.86 British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) was up 0.11% at $35.10. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) was flat at $20.86.

In other energy news, SunPower ( SPWR ) has launched SunPower Choice, a pilot residential solar leasing program, in Melbourne, Australia.

The program is designed to assist homeowners in financing a SunPower solar system for no money down with solar electricity rates locked in for the 25-year life of the lease. The company also provides monitoring and maintenance at no additional cost for the length of the agreement.
