Sector Update: Energy

Energy shares are mixed in pre-market, while crude oil futures are down.

Light, sweet crude oil for January delivery is trading down $0.08 at $97.30 per barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil is up $0.01 at $3.06 a gallon while natural gas is up $0.02 at $4.16 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 0.03% at $34.94. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is up 0.94% at $20.38.

In other energy news, InterOil ( IOC ) is lower this morning, retreating from an overnight high of $99.43, after saying it agreed to sell to Total S.A. ( TOT ) a gross 61.3% interest in Petroleum Retention License 15 (PRL15) which contains the Elk-Antelope gas fields in the Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea, and has also granted Total an exclusive right to negotiate a farm-in to all its exploration licenses in Papua New Guinea.

IOC is down about 21% at $69.80.
