Sector Update: Energy

Energy shares are lower in pre-market trading along with crude oil futures, which slipped below $96 a barrel ahead of the opening bell. Crude oil futures are lower with the January contract moving down $1.10 to $95.07 ahead of the equities open. Natural gas futures are higher with the most-active January contract tipping up $0.02 to $3.63 per million british thermal units. Meanwhile, shares of Chevron ( CVX ) are lower while Bloomberg reported yesterday that the oil major wasn't downgraded from its Class A status as an operator in Brazil. A downgrade had been suspected as a result of a spill at the company's Frade oil field. CVX shares are down 0.6%. in pre-market trading. Hydrogenics ( HYGS ) today announced that it has received an award to deliver one HySTAT 60 electrolyser, from Carbagas, a fully owned subsidiary of the Air Liquide group, as part of a complete electrolysis-based fueling station project.
