Sector Update: Energy

Energy shares are down in late trading as crude oil futures finish lower, near $105 a barrel. Light, sweet crude oil for April delivery finished down $0.42, or 0.38%, to $105.02 a barrel. In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 0.07% to $42.40. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 1.34% to $5.17. In late-session energy news, shares of Massey Energy ( MEE ) are higher as Reuters reports the mining company is facing wrongful death lawsuits filed from families of two coal miners killed in the Upper Big Branch mine explosion last year. The families are seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages in the suit. Meanwhile, BP, Plc. ( BP ) is down 0.7% in late trading after reportedly being sued by Louisiana for at least $1 million a day in damages caused by its oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Bloomberg. Louisiana is also suing BP's partners, Anadarko Petroleum ( APC ) and a unit of Mitsui Inc.
