Highs and Lows Stock Data

Energy shares are higher in late trading after crude futures surged throughout the day to close above $83 a barrel. Crude oil for January delivery finished up $2.61, or 2.82%, at $83.54 a barrel. In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 3.2% to $36.06. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is up 0.17% to $6.04. Supplies of crude oil rose 1.03 million barrels to 358.6 million, the U.S. Department of Energy reported. A Bloomberg survey predicted a decrease of 2 million barrels. In late-session energy news, Exxon Mobile ( XOM ) shares are higher as the company invested $2.8 billion in Norway in 2009 and said it sees the same levels for 2010 and 2011, Bloomberg reported.
