Sector Update: Energy

Energy shares are mixed in mid-day trading as crude futures turn positive in mid-day trading, adding to prior-session gains. Crude oil for December delivery is trading up 0.15%, or $0.09, at $86.99 a barrel. In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is down 0.21% to $37.57. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is up 3.36% to $5.85. In sector news, the commission appointed by President Barack Obama to investigate the BP ( BP ) oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico found no evidence thus far that employees put profits before safety, Bloomberg reported, citing Chief Counsel Fred Bartlit.
