Rubicon Minerals Up for Third Day in a Row; Shares Add 17% Since Tuesday Close

Rubicon Minerals Corp (RMX.TO) is higher for a third day in row, with shares climbing nearly 10% this morning to $4.08 apiece and extending their gains this week to over 17%.

Rubicon's rise stands in contrast with moderate declines today for many gold miners. There's also been little company-specific news this week for Rubicon other than the company receiving about $20,000 in stock from Quantum Rare Earth Development Corp (QRE.V) after the firms decided to terminate a November 2009 option agreement for certain mineral claims in the Thunder Bay Mining Division.

Quantum received the options as part of its merger with Silver Mountain and elected to issue 129,032 shares of its stock to Rubicon rather than continuing to work the properties in northwestern Ontario.

Quantum shares are flat today at 14.5 cents each.
