The 10-day moving average is 62% and the one-day reading is 66%. This index has been above 50% the vast majority of the last several years as we have generally seen positive trends in the U.S. equity markets.

Relative Strength Spread

The chart below is the spread between the relative strength leaders and relative strength laggards (universe of mid and large cap stocks). When the chart is rising, relative strength leaders are performing better than relative strength laggards. As of 8/10/18:

After falling below its 50 day moving average in early June, the RS Spread has consolidated and is now on the cusp of moving back above its 50 day moving average.

Systematic RS Growth in Focus

With the broad U.S. equity market (as measured by the S&P 500) on the cusp of moving to new all-time highs, we continue to receive strong interest in strategies that focus on U.S. stocks. Our Systematic RS Growth Portfolio has been among our most popular strategies because of its strong long-term performance and because of its ability to raise up to 50 percent cash if needed.

Since inception, this portfolio has had a gross annualized return of 11.65% (9.94% net) compared to 8.38% for the S&P 500 Total Return Index (12/31/06 - 7/31/18). The beta of this portfolio has been 0.79 since inception.
