Canada's main stock index rose to a month's high on Monday lifted by a 2% rally in energy stocks as oil prices rose amid signs of progress in resolving a trade dispute between the United States and China.

Nov 4 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index rose to a month's high on Monday lifted by a 2% rally in energy stocks as oil prices rose amid signs of progress in resolving a trade dispute between the United States and China.

* At 09:36 a.m. ET (14:36 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 69.29 points, or 0.42%, at 16,663.36.
