The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is seeking public comments on Labrador Iron Mines' (LIM.TO) proposed beneficiation plant in western Labrador, and its potential effects on the environment.
The plant would process iron ore from the Houston 1 and 2 Deposits Mining Project, located nearby. The beneficiation process involves the crushing, screening, washing and magnetic separation of the rock. The plant would process up to 1.5 million tonnes of ore per year over a 12 year period.
The agency must decide whether a federal environmental assessment for the project is required.
LIM shares were trading at $0.73, down a penny.
