Grain markets were closed overnight for the Christmas holiday. Markets will reopen this morning at 9:30 am cst. The Japanese Yen fell to a 20-month low against the US Dollar overnight which sent the Nikkei stock market to a 9-month high. Hong Kong and European markets were closed for holiday. Outside markets look slightly supportive ahead of the opening.
The corn market finished Monday steady to slightly higher in low volume as traders evened up positions ahead of holiday. Traders will look to an updated Export Inspections report today for direction. Spillover support from a stronger soybean market helped to support gains in corn and wheat. Monday's volume was well below average with only 30,903 contracts trading hands and OI increased by 713 contracts on the day. Funds were estimated to have bought 2,000 contracts on the day.
