PPG's Glidden Paint Introduces Colortopia Exhibit at Epcot

PPG Industries, Inc. 's PPG Glidden paint brand has introduced the Colortopia exhibit in Innoventions at Epcot, part of Walt Disney World Resort. It is a vibrant, interactive experience for guests and visitors who are entertained with knowledge about color.

The Colortopia exhibit, a show of almost 30 minutes, is not only a visual treat, but also a dynamic and emotional experience. Moreover, it helps visitors to explore the different aspects of color and its impact on the world around them.

The exhibit takes visitors through three unique zones where they come across exciting interactions related to life color theory, the psychology of color and its perception, via interesting and fun hands-on activities. The first zone is the "The Power of Color" where guests can find out about the psychology of color. After exiting this zone, visitors reach the "The Color Lab" where they can play interactive color games, creating their own bold, new hues. The third and last zone is "Color Our World" where visitors can enjoy playing with their own colored shadows.

This colorful exhibit is also supported by the Colortopia mobile app and website which help users in several ways. While taking a tour at Epcot, users of the app can even play a color-matching game that responds to the illuminated walls of the pavilion itself. Moreover, the app brings unique Glidden paint color palettes, inspired by different countries that guests can use at their own homes too. The app can also match shades from a user's mobile or photos with the closest colors, with only a click. These can be further used to colorize personal photos.

The Glidden brand is a product line of PPG Architectural Coatings. Architectural coatings volumes fell by high single-digits in the third quarter of 2015 in Americas and the Asia Pacific owing to weak regional demand in Canada. Sales volumes in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) were flat year over year. The company witnessed modest protective and marine coatings volumes in the quarter as gains in protective coatings were offset by weaker marine-related demand.

PPG Industries logged profit from continued operations (as reported) of $433 million or $1.59 per share in the third quarter, up roughly 14.9% from $377 million or $1.35 per share recorded a year ago. However, sales for the quarter were $3,872 million, down around 1.6% year over year.

PPG Industries currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Better-ranked companies in the diversified chemical space include Celanese Corporation CE , Innospec Inc. IOSP and Akzo Nobel N.V. AKZOY . While Celanese and Innospec sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), Akzo Nobel carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
