Pitney Bowes Launches SendSuite to Track SMB Inbounds

Pitney Bowes Inc.PBI recently announced the launch of an innovative cloud-based solution called SendSuite Tracking Online to ease the tracking process of mail parcels for small and medium businesses ("SMB").

Currently available in 12 countries across continental North America, Europe and Asia, SendSuite can track every parcel, either inbound or lost in transit and can also update the status to parcel recipients. This will allow mailrooms to conveniently track their targets and hence speed up the entire delivery process.

Sendsuite is the latest addition to Pitney Bowes' Global Parcel Management Solutions, which holds a solid record of offering shipping solutions for outbound parcels and tracking solutions for inbound parcels. Management believes that the new offering will enhance the productivity of tracking processes by reducing inquiries and error rates, as well as enhancing security and customer satisfaction.

Sendsuite can streamline the overall management of inbound parcels, informing the company about the concerned item's specific location in transit. The software also eliminates the need for manual labor to search for items and record the data in log books.

Moreover, SendSuite's homepage comes with informative dashboards that enhance transparency of the custody chain for an item. This makes it considerably easier to track any lost packages, thereby boosting the operational efficiency of enterprises.

According to Enterprise Research Centre reports, SMBs are experiencing steady growth, having almost reached the pre-recessionary levels in places like the U.K. In the U.S. alone, net worth of SMB businesses is projected to reach $55 billion in 2016 and by 2020, 78% of the businesses are expected to adopt cloud computing. This will be particularly beneficial for Pitney Bowes, as a major part of the company's offerings cater to SMBs.

We believe Pitney Bowes' recent product launch reflects its aim to stabilize the mailing business by strengthening its software offerings. The company expects its North American SMB business to pick up pace in second half of the year, after a lackluster first half.

In order to leverage this potential, Pitney Bowes had launched multiple offerings like Relay Multi-Channel Communication Suite and SaaS-based SMB relay communications hub during the second quarter of 2015 and plans to keep the momentum alive, going forward.

However, over the past few quarters, strengthening of the U.S. dollar has adversely impacted the company's overall financial performance. Also, softness in the European economic environment has added to this Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) stock's woes.

Better-ranked stocks in the industry include Sharps Compliance Corp. SMED , Sealed Air Corp. SEE and CECO Environmental Corp. CECE . While Sharps Compliance sports a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), both CECO Environmental and Sealed Air hold a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
