OPTI Canada Unchanged But Heavily Traded; In Process Of Being Bought By CNOOC Limited

OPTI Canada (OPC.V) is unchanged at 10.5 cents and remains near a year low 9 cents with 3.6 million shares traded although there is no apparent fresh stock specific news around.

September 7, CNOOC Limited announced that with reference to the announcements of the company dated July 20, 2011 and July 27, 2011, respectively, in relation to the proposed transaction involving the acquisition of OPTI, the Canadian Court had granted the Plan Sanction Order. This approved, amongst other things, the Plan of Arrangement pursuant to the CCAA and the CBCA. It said the transaction is expected to become effective in the fourth quarter of 2011.
