
Notable option activity in equities
Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with unusual option activity on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.
Avon Products (AVP): About 2,500 Weekly 3.50 calls expiring on Oct. 23 were bought for $0.10 and $0.15 as investors positioned for a rally in the beaten-down cosmetics maker. AVP rose 2.15 percent to $3.32.
Nokia (NOK): About 3,300 Weekly 7 calls expiring on Oct. 23 were bought, mostly for $0.17, as investors positioned for upside in the maker of networking equipment. NOK rose 2.62 percent to $6.86.
SPDR Technology Sector Fund (XLK): A block of 5,554 Weekly 40 puts expiring today was sold for $0.95 and an equal number of Weekly 39 puts expiring on Oct. 9 were bought for $0.56. Volume was below open interest in the shorter-dated contracts, which suggests an existing position was rolled forward in time and lower in strike. XLK fell 0.13 percent to $39.47.
