NCR RealPOS XR7 POS to be Deployed at Maxeda DIY Stores - Analyst Blog

NCR CorporationNCR announced that its point of sale (POS) solution - NCR RealPOS XR7 POS - has been chosen by Maxeda DIY Group - a leading European do-it-yourself (DIY) retailer - for its stores. NCR further revealed that it is working with its European channel partner, Centric, for installing the devices.

Maxeda operates across Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg through its 370 stores and has 6,000 employees. NCR revealed that Maxeda will deploy over 1,300 XR7 POS units at its Brico, Plan It and Praxis store chains across the Benelux region.

NCR RealPOS XR7 POS offers stable performance and has a long life, which helps retailers maximize the return on investments while enhancing customers' checkout experience. Moreover, the POS solution helps retailers to process transactions quickly and securely.

The 15-inch POS system, powered by the 4 th generation Intel Core processor family, works best when combined with receipt printers and consumer-facing RealPOS XD15 Display screens. Retailers can better engage customers and boost sales by running videos and specials on the display screens.

The demand for NCR's POS system solution is on the rise among retailers and restaurant owners. One of the primary advantages of the system is that it facilitates automated billing and accounting, thus freeing up managers for customer interaction, leading to increased productivity. NCR strengthened its position in the POS market through the acquisition of Radiant Systems in Aug 2011.

According to TechNavio, the global POS software industry is expected to increase at a CAGR of 8.03% (2012-2016). Moreover, TechNavio forecasts 7.7% CAGR for the global wireless POS terminal market over the same period. Thus, NCR with its varied POS terminal offerings and solutions should be able to capitalize on these opportunities.

We believe that NCR's growing exposure to the retailers and restaurant owners is encouraging, given the tremendous growth prospect. Regular product launches, increasing popularity of its self-service offerings and synergies from acquisitions are the growth catalysts for the company. We consider that NCR's commitment to protect the trust and integrity of the companies has been inspiring retailers and a host of other companies to choose its services.

However, similar offerings from Diebold Corp. DBD and International Business Machines Corp. IBM could create some pressure.

Currently, NCR has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell). Investors may consider VASCO Data Security International Inc. VDSI , a better-ranked technology stock in the same space, sporting a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
