Nasdaq Women in Technology: Tinku Gupta, Senior Managing Director, Chief Technology Officer at SGX
Tinku Gupta is the Senior Managing Director, Chief Technology Officer at the Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX). With over 25 years of experience in the technology industry, Tinku is an inspiring example of female leaders that have pursued a career in exchange technology.
“I’ve often been asked about the role of women in technology and what steps we as an industry can take to enhance the representation of women who choose careers in this exciting space,” says Tinku on the role that female leaders play in encouraging women to pursue a career in technology. “Gender diversity and its relevance in the workplace can’t be emphasized enough. Around the world, in different markets and cultures, there’s a positive correlation between female representation and the success of an organization. Diversity needs to be approached as more than a buzzword because true inclusiveness promotes innovation and creativity. Often, you’ll find that it tends to strengthen a company’s brand value and create greater customer loyalty too.”
Tinku highlighted three key initiatives that people working in technology can follow to address gender diversity: hiring, developing, and retaining. By focusing on hiring a diverse set of employees, focusing on the development of including women in the conversation about technology, and retaining female employees at the company, can help bridge the gender gap, and bring more women into the technology industry.
