Morning Natural Gas Market Report

January natural gas prices drifted lower during the early morning hours as they corrected Tuesday's gain. Some traders indicated that the potential of a winter system making its way to the Northeast in coming days might have offered initial support, but it was unlikely to bring extremely cold temperatures. The 6 to 10 day weather maps show a larger area of above normal temperatures for the eastern-third of the country. The latest supply and demand readings from the EIA forecasted 2012 US natural gas production to increase by 2.8% from 2011 levels to a 67.72 bcf per day, while consumption increases by a slower 1.7%.
