January natural gas prices grinded lower during the early morning hours as they continued to consolidate inside of Monday's wide range session. Prices garnered a lift yesterday on short-term weather forecasts that called for a decline in temperatures, which would support demand for natural gas. The latest 6 to 10 day weather maps show a larger area of below normal temperatures for the western half of the country but above normal in the northeast and in the lower southeast.
