July natural gas prices traded slightly higher during the early morning hours, seemingly in an attempt to correct Thursday's negative reversal. Some traders attributed the higher prices this morning to 6 to 10 day weather maps that forecast a return of above average temperatures across the eastern US. The National Hurricane Center is back to following the tropical depression from earlier in the week that has garnered some shape and moved east over Cuba. Yesterday's weekly natural gas storage report showed an injection of 80 bcf, which brought total storage to 2,187 bcf, or 2.6% below the 5 year average.
