Monday Sector Leaders: Financial, Industrial

Looking at the sectors faring best as of midday Monday, shares of Financial companies are outperforming other sectors, higher by 1.0%. Within that group, Citigroup Inc (Symbol: C) and The Charles Schwab Corporation (Symbol: SCHW) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 2.7% and 2.5%, respectively. Among financial ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLF), which is up 1.4% on the day, and up 3.73% year-to-date. Citigroup Inc, meanwhile, is down 0.10% year-to-date, and The Charles Schwab Corporation is up 3.89% year-to-date. Combined, C and SCHW make up approximately 7.3% of the underlying holdings of XLF.

The next best performing sector is the Industrial sector, higher by 1.0%. Among large Industrial stocks, Caterpillar Inc. (Symbol: CAT) and Southwest Airlines Co (Symbol: LUV) are the most notable, showing a gain of 2.7% and 2.7%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Industrial stocks is the Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLI ), which is up 1.1% in midday trading, and up 5.21% on a year-to-date basis. Caterpillar Inc., meanwhile, is up 7.45% year-to-date, and Southwest Airlines Co is up 12.78% year-to-date. Combined, CAT and LUV make up approximately 4.7% of the underlying holdings of XLI.
