Monday Sector Leaders: Energy, Healthcare
In afternoon trading on Monday, Energy stocks are the best performing sector, losing just 0.1%. Within that group, Anadarko Petroleum Corp (Symbol: APC) and Occidental Petroleum Corp (Symbol: OXY) are two of the day's stand-outs, showing a gain of 4.0% and 1.8%, respectively. Among energy ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLE), which is up 0.2% on the day, and up 13.17% year-to-date. Anadarko Petroleum Corp, meanwhile, is up 73.24% year-to-date, and Occidental Petroleum Corp, is down 2.61% year-to-date. Combined, APC and OXY make up approximately 6.9% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
The next best performing sector is the Healthcare sector, losing just 0.4%. Among large Healthcare stocks, Cigna Corp (Symbol: CI) and Centene Corp (Symbol: CNC) are the most notable, showing a gain of 2.9% and 1.6%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Healthcare stocks is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV), which is down 0.2% in midday trading, and up 4.39% on a year-to-date basis. Cigna Corp , meanwhile, is down 17.22% year-to-date, and Centene Corp, is down 7.34% year-to-date. Combined, CI and CNC make up approximately 2.4% of the underlying holdings of XLV.
