As the saying goes, there are many possible reasons for an insider to sell a stock, but only one reason to buy - they expect to make money. So let's look at two noteworthy recent insider buys.
On Wednesday, Armada Hoffler Properties ( AHH )'s President, CEO, Louis S. Haddad, made a $222,300 purchase of AHH, buying 15,000 shares at a cost of $14.82 each. Haddad was up about 1.0% on the purchase at the high point of today's trading session, with AHH trading as high as $14.97 at last check today. Armada Hoffler Properties is trading up about 1.3% on the day Monday. Before this latest buy, Haddad made one other purchase in the past twelve months, buying $197,550 shares for a cost of $13.17 a piece.
And also on Wednesday, EVP, Production Erin R. Centofanti bought $175,200 worth of EQT Corp ( EQT ), buying 10,000 shares at a cost of $17.52 a piece. Before this latest buy, Centofanti made one other purchase in the past twelve months, buying $198,420 shares for a cost of $33.07 each. EQT Corp is trading up about 0.9% on the day Monday. So far Centofanti is in the green, up about 4.8% on their purchase based on today's trading high of $18.36.
