Middle East Shares Mixed But Saudi Stocks Jump on Speculation Crown Prince May Soon Take the Throne

MidEast stocks were mixed, with Saudi shares rising amid speculation Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman might soon take the throne.

There was also talk King Salman may transfer the post of prime minister to his son.

Any such changes in power are seen as potentially boosting the economy due to expectations for a payout for public sector workers or decisions that would speed up reforms.

Saudi Arabia's main index rose 0.8% to 7,361 points, Dubai inched up 0.1% to 3,644 points, Abu Dhabi dipped 0.1% to 4,454 points, Qatar eased 0.1% to 8,675 points, Egypt gained 0.9% to 13,433 points, Kuwait slid 0.3% to 6,897 points, Bahrain gained 0.3 percent to 1,316 points, Oman declined 0.4% to 5,047 points.
