February cattle traded slightly lower early in the session and bounced to slightly higher on the session into the mid-day. Weakness in outside markets and a sharp sell-off in equity markets overnight was offset by strong beef prices this week which brought about ideas that cash cattle can trade higher. This kept cattle in a choppy range inside of yesterday's range for the first part of the day with the market moving to the highs into the mid-session. Cash cattle bids emerged at $98.00 this week which would be unchanged from last year. Boxed-beef cut-out values at mid-session came in at $160.12, down $.84 from yesterday but up from $158.11 last week at this time.
