Mid-Day Update: Wall Street Dives Deeper as Traders Shift Focus to FOMC Minutes

US stocks dived deeper around midday on Thursday, just prior to the release of the minutes from the latest policy meeting of Federal Reserve.

In economic news, initial weekly jobless claims rose 10,000 to 234,000 in the week ended Nov. 24, following the prior week's 3,000 increase to 224,000.

Personal income, consumer spending and the PCE price index rose 0.5%, 0.6%, and 0.2%, respectively, in October.

The National Association of Realtors October pending home sales fell 2.6% to 102.1 after rising 0.7% to a seasonally adjusted 104.8 in September.

Across the Atlantic, equities were on the rise after all the FTSE 100 banks passed the Bank of England's Brexit scenario stress test, but gains were kept in check by a raid at Deutsche Bank's headquarters.

Crude oil is up 2.64% to $51.62 per barrel. Natural gas is down 4.6% to $4.483 per 1 million BTU. Gold is up 0.06% to $1,230.50 an ounce, while silver is down 0.38% to $14.40 an ounce. Copper is down 0.76% to $2.792 per pound.

Among energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund is up 3.02% to $10.98, with the United States Natural Gas Fund is down 0.32% to $37.55. Among precious-metal funds, the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF is up 0.05% while SPDR Gold Shares is up 0.49% to $115.93. The iShares Silver Trust is up 0.22% to $13.46.
