Software developer Microsoft CorporationMSFT will be finally making the backward compatibility feature available on Xbox One from Nov 12, when its gaming console will get a brand new Windows 10-powered dashboard update, the new Xbox One Experience.

At its E3 event back in June, Microsoft had announced the feature that will enable Xbox One users to play legacy games from the 360 console for free. It said that not all Xbox 360 games will be initially available, but gradually Microsoft will revise the list of compatible games.

Microsoft has announced the first list of 104 Xbox 360 games that will be backwards compatible on the Xbox One. It includes famous Xbox 360 games like Mirror's Edge, South Park: The Stick of Truth, and Just Cause 2 and a large number of Xbox Live Arcade titles, like the special editions of The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, Castle Crashers, and Shadow Complex.

However, popular games like Red Read Redemption and the BioShock series haven't made it to the list yet. Microsoft promises to add more titles including Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, and Skate 3 starting December.

Until then, users will be able to play the currently offered titles on Xbox One without paying any additional amount.

Also, the games and their availability are subject to change. So if users want to get certain titles onto the list they can go to the Xbox Feedback option and vote for the Xbox 360 games they want to be added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list.

The update will finally be a relief for Xbox 360 owners who have been anxious about switching completely to Xbox One. The feature will provide them a smooth transition as they will not have to totally start over their games collection.

Moreover, the integration enlarges the console's library thereby offering users a unique and enjoyable gameplay experience.

Also, it will give Microsoft's gaming console a competitive edge over Sony's SNE PlayStation 4.

Microsoft's latest move could bolster Xbox One sales, as Xbox 360 was a popular console and a lot of gamers still have a huge collection of games for that console.
